Welcome to the Department of Sociology and Social Work, a dynamic academic community where we explore the vital connections between individuals and their social environments. Since our establishment in 2005, we have been committed to delivering high-quality education through undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Sociology and Social Work.

Our Department is driven by a vision of academic excellence and practical relevance. We aim to advance scholarship and enhance professional practice both within Ghana and across the globe. Through rigorous training, we empower students to think critically, conduct impactful research, and engage meaningfully with the challenges of contemporary society.

With a faculty that brings diverse teaching and professional experience from Ghana and abroad, we offer an innovative and interdisciplinary learning environment. Our Sociology programme equips students with analytical tools to understand social structures and group dynamics, while our Social Work programme fosters the skills needed to promote social change, development, and well-being. Graduates of our Department go on to make meaningful contributions in academia, industry, politics, religion, and community development.
